An apartment complex in southern Dallas TX partially collapsed after an explosion – apparently caused by a natural gas leak – occurred while Dallas Fire/Rescue were investigating reports of a natural gas leak.
Four firefighters and four civilians were injured in the blast. Three of the firefighters are listed in critical condition in Dallas’ Parkland Hospital. All residents have been accounted for, and the American Red Cross is providing relocation services.
One resident spoke to a media scrum and said he smelled gas during the previous evening, starting after hearing gunshots and a police response before midnight. The investigation will be conducted by local, state and federal agencies.
A resident of the apartment complex describes how the explosion knocked her off her feet and flying glass left her with cuts on her legs and shoulder.
